About
The AGOG! Feast of Foreign Films is being presented and organised as an annual event by the Dungog Film Society in partnership with the Hopson’s who run the Dungog Cinema. The aim is to bring to the local community and further a field as many quality foreign films as we can. And now in 2010 on September 3 & 4 we are presenting six films from the Friday night through to the Saturday night (Vitus, Mother, Micmacs, Welcome, Quiet chaos, Departures). Watch this site for more info, or subscribe to get updates.
The Dungog Film Society is now in its 19th year. We are proud of its track record of screening alternative and quality films in the historic James Theatre (Dungog Cinema). To date we have seen 181 films at our monthly screenings and with the AGOG weekend we will expand this further.
A map with the location of the cinema can be found on here. You can find information about accommodation and other local attractions through the Dungog Visitor Information Centre and the Tourism New South Wales website.
And the meaning of agog – very eager to hear or see something (Compact Oxford English Dictionary), in a state of high anticipation or interest (Wiktionary), eager or expectant (Australian Oxford Dictionary).
So being agog in the Dungog Cinema is very appropriate!
